Smart Invest Securities (AAS): Pre-tax profit in May reached 43.3 billion VND thanks to stable bond investment activities

In May 2022, AAS recorded operating revenue of 84.53 billion VND and pre-tax profit of 43.32 billion VND, respectively increasing by 1.72 times and 3.16 times compared to the same period last year. All business segments grew and contributed well to the overall revenue. Among them, the largest proportion came from financial activities, with revenue from this segment reaching 67.64 billion VND, an increase of 2.56 times compared to May 2021. For the first 5 months of the year, AAS achieved revenue of over 495 billion VND and pre-tax profit of over 194 billion VND. The market in May gradually regained balance, recovering after the negative developments in March and April 2022. Accordingly, AAS recorded stable profits thanks to its main business segment, bond investment, which continued to be promoted. The May profit results contributed to AAS moving towards achieving its set business goals for 2022, which are operating revenue of 1,200 billion VND, an increase of 25.2%, and after-tax profit of 480 billion VND, an increase of 27% compared to 2021. The solid performance of the bond investment segment serves as a pillar and a strong buffer for AAS to vigorously develop its securities brokerage segment in an efficient manner, without being affected by short-term fluctuations in the stock market regarding liquidity and price trends. According to the plan, AAS will pay a 50% stock dividend and offer 80 million shares to existing shareholders at a 1:1 ratio, meaning shareholders owning 1 share will receive 1 new share at a price of 10,000 VND. Additionally, AAS plans to privately issue 300 million shares to strategic investors. The charter capital after the issuances is expected to increase to 5,000 billion VND, with a large proportion allocated to bond investment activities, followed by the development of brokerage and financial services for customers according to the roadmap.
